One of the major reasons why people blog is for money. People have lots of questions, doubts and confusions in making money blogging.

Can I make money blogging?

How much money can I make blogging?

Will I be able to rely completely on my blogging income and quit my day job?

What exactly should I do to make money blogging?

And the list of questions simply extend. The bottom line is that you can make money from your blogs. At the same time you should also know that not everyone that starts a blog today ends up making money the next day. If you want to make money by blogging, you need to be patient; without patience, you will nothing but a frustrated blogger. Here are ten useful tips that will help you build blogs that attract traffic and make money.

Tip 1
Do not go around making research trying to find topics or themes that make the most money. This is the folly of thousands of website owners that jumped into making money through Adsense content websites. With the intention of making money fast through Adsense, webmasters simply generated hundreds of websites with skimpy content and shallow information just to increase their “Adsense real estate” online based on keywords that they thought to pay the highest rates. This has triggered some of the most serious updates from Google. All the websites with substandard content were penalized and thrown out of business and income.
What should you do then? How to proceed building blogs that make money?
Rather than starting with listing topics that make more money you should list topics that you are passionate about!

Build blogs on topics that you are passionate about and topics in which you have some kind of expertise!
When you build blogs on topics that you love and on topics that you are passionate about, you will have plenty of information to share with the rest of the world. The difference can be easily seen through, when you create a blog just based on niche topics that you consider popular without any personal expertise or liking you will end up producing content that is not user friendly and content that is not resourceful. Such content will add no value to the internet community in general and to your target audience in particular.

Tip 2
Have a regular schedule for populating your blog.
You must keep your blog updated with regular posts. If you are too busy and if you are planning to make just one post per week then you might as well look at alternative options to making money. Your blog will start getting noticed not until you have uploaded a few hundred posts. If you are going to make just one post per week, it will take at least four years for your blog to create any impact and by that time the topic you have chosen would have become outdated and the content that you have posted obsolete. So you will have to tighten your belt and have a minimum of one post per week so that you can think of your blog getting noticed at least after a year. If you want to make money blogging, be ready to work for it and be consistent with your efforts.

Tip 3
Create blog posts of sizeable length.
Just because you will have to make one post per day, do not think that you can get clever by breaking down a single article and posting it in bits and pieces to offset your reduced efforts for the daily posts. Your blog posts need to have 1500 to 2000 words minimum if you want to speed up the results. I do not mean here content that is lengthy but of no use… you need to create in-depth articles that involve a decent amount of research. The information that you give to your target audience should not be redundant. You will need to provide your target audience with resourceful information. At one time 400 words to 500 words used to be the norm for blog marketing and for article marketing. Today, Google’s demands lot more than just 400 to 500 words. We are talking in terms of few thousands now. So better brace yourself up for the challenge. You should now be able to connect with Tip 1 easily now, if you have identified a theme that revolves around one of your passions then you are very likely to find it rather more involved in creating in-depth articles rather than working on topics that don’t is way out of your area of expertise.

Tip 4
Identify things that matter the most to your target audience.
Firstly, you should identify your area of expertise to blog about and within each niche there will be a specific popular themes. You will need to run a quick research to identify such themes within your preferred niche so that you can create blog posts around that area. Be warned here that limiting your blog posts just to such preferred topics will make you lose wider audience. The strategy should therefore be to first target people that have special interests within your niche market and then go out to cater to wider audience. For example, you might want to focus on blog articles that revolve around trouble shooting and tips initially. If you are targeting people that like to start a blog, the immediate area of interest will be “How to start a blog?” Create a few posts that revolve around the topic and then proceed slowly to other pertinent topics such as “How to use the keywords effectively in your blog? How to implement SEO for your blog? etc. Such an approach will ensure higher readership within a short period time giving increased visibility to your blog just as you desired.

Tip 5
Target Your Keywords Systematically
Before we get any further into this point, I should warn you that when you are blogging do not be shackled with keywords and limit your ideas to the keywords. Let the keywords flow naturally. Having said this, you should also know the top keywords for each topic and organize your keywords systematically in your blog article without forcefully thrusting them. Do not try to repeat the keywords too many times thinking that it will fetch you good ranking in Google. The ranking algorithm from Google has come a long way and it is far more sophisticated than what it was ten years ago. Google can easily pick up synonyms and the related keywords. Google’s advanced semantic capabilities can easily understand your web page’s content and even interpret it to a certain extent. So do not be forced to repeat your keywords multiple times and pave way for penalties. Whatever keywords you are planning to target should be added in the subheadings. Do not target too many keywords in the same article.

Tip 6
Blogging is a two-way channel!
One of the major differences between a regular web page and a blog is that if you have a website people can just read its content and if they have something to add or share their opinion about the content, there is no room for such things in a website. A blog on the other hand is two-way channel whereby not only you share your ideas, views and expertise but it allows your readers to comment, ask questions, add their own views which in fact makes blogging an interesting endeavor. You should therefore allow your users to comment on your blog and of course you should moderate the comments because when you leave your open your blog for comments, you care going to invite those unscrupulous backlink mongers who will post silly comments just to get a link back to their websites. When you do receive comments promptly moderate them and reply to those comments wherever necessary so that you develop a dialogue out of every blog post. Search engines take note of such dialogues and they credit such blogs with good ranking.

Tip 7
Include Images In Your Blog

Include images in your blogs. There are multiple benefits in including images in your blogs. Firstly, images speak louder than words. Secondly, you will give your blog post an additional advantage of getting listed in the image searches. Thirdly, you can use these images in Pinterest. If you do not use any images, you cannot possibly pin the images from your blog. You will miss all these advantages. It is therefore worth taking the efforts to add a few images in your blog posts.

Tip 8
Authorship Markup To Your Content
Rather than posting anonymous content, your blog posts will be valued more when it goes out with some kind of authorship. Take advantage of Google’s authorship markup. Even if you are using a free blogging platform like blogger, you can connect your blogs to your Google+ account and claim authorship to all the content that you post online. Over a period of time, you will have volumes of content in your name, which will enhance your online authority.

Tip 9
Share your blog posts in the social networking sites
Make sure to share your blog posts in Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and the other popular social networking sites.

Tip 10
Consistency and patience pay richly!

When it comes to blogging success consistency and patience pay richly. All the popular blogs that you see online today have had their own glorious days and mournful days. It has taken them several hundred posts and months of rigorous efforts to enjoy the status that they enjoy today.
